It’s Monday! What are you Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, a place to share and discuss what we’ve read in the past week and what we’re in the middle of or are planning to read this week.
What I read / listened to last week:
The Witch Hunt by Sasha Peyton Smith

What I am reading/listening to now:
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

Talk Santa to Me by Linda Urban

What I’m reading /listening to next:

A Forest of Stolen Memories by Callie Thomas
The Orphan Witch by Paige Crutcher

See you yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

How did your last week go and what are you reading this week?
I’m reading my 60th book of the year this week and achieving my Goodreads goal 😊 which I wasn’t sure I’d reach this year. Standing Against the Wind, by Traci L Jones. It’s MG and I’m really impressed with the author’s ability to create tension. Something I’m working on in my own writing.

Congratulations on achieving your Goodreads goal! I don’t know what hapened with my GR tracking, but it only shows about a quarter of all the books I’ve read this year.
Tension isn’t easy to get right. I like short, snappy chapters with a hook in the final part, but nothing too obvious. It’s great to hear you found an author who’s really good at this.

Sometimes GR misses books and I’m not sure why. I also laughed because a few of my 60 are picture books but as a picture book author I’m okay with that! 😊 Tension is one of a list of things I’m working on in my MG but hopefully the is getting shorter.
