It’s Monday! What are you reading? July 4th, 2022

It’s Monday! What are you Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, a place to share and discuss what we’ve read in the past week and what we’re in the middle of or are planning to read this week.

What I read / listened to last week:

House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City#2) by Sarah J.Maas- it took up most of my reading week, but I really enjoyed it…The plot and world-building are complex and there are new characters to explore as well as unearthing more of the protagonist’s dead best friend’s secrets. I would have prefered more depth in the protagonists as opposed to action, action, and more action (including that of a steamy kind), but if you like New Adult and Sarah J.Mass books in general, you won’t complain. House of Earth and Blood ended with everything tied up, while this one ends with a major twist which means it won’t be easy to wait for the next book.

Mates: Minerva by Bridget E.Baker- this is a new subgenre for me- a fantasy sitcom. Would love to find out what happens next and which mate/friend the author is going to focus on.

What I am reading/listening to now:

The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St.James

What I’m reading /listening to next:

Booked on Feeling by Jayci Lee

Book of Night by Holly Black

How did your last week go and what are you reading this week?

  1. These look great! What do you think of The Book of Cold Cases?
I just finished ‘Acts of Violet’ by Margarita Montimore and now I’m reading ‘Down Among the Sticks and Bones’ by Seaman McGuire.

    1. Sorry I missed your comment, Sheri! I liked The Book of Great Cases…Then again I really enjoyed reading The Sundown Motel, but all I remember is the scary stuff, so I’m wondering if this book is going to end up reduced to a few (well-written) supernatural scenes..
How did you like Down Among the Sticks and Bones? I still haven’t read Every Heart a Door (saving it for October?)

      1. It’s fine, thank you, it happens!
I still haven’t read The Sundown Hotel but I keep hearing fantastic things about it. Maybe I’ll add it to my October reads. 😅
I enjoyed Down Among the Sticks and Bones well enough, it wasn’t as good as the first book, but it did fill in a lot of backstory for some of the characters.
