My thoughts:
I love a good second chances story and this one checked all the boxes!
Jamie Rutkowski is a successful writer. She’s had two books published undr other people’s names. Yes, she is a ghostwriter, but a girl’s got to pay her bills somehow. Long time ago she used to be a dreamer, but then her first love Whit Martin left for Europe without a hint of trying to make their relationship work long-distance. It took Jamie a long time to get over her heartbreak. Now, Whit is back-his college roommate is getting married to Jamie’s best friend and Whit is in the wedding party. Jamie and Whit start talking and he seems quite different to what he used to be like-more thoughtful, vulnerable. Whit hires Jamie to write a book about what happened to him in Europe. To do that Jamie will have to interview him and ask lots of probing questions. In return, Whit hopes to get a closure over a tragic mistake, a closure that he has been denied for a long time.
The book is very focused on the protagonists. We do not get distracted by a large cast of characters as it often happens in other romance books. What we get is more depth to Jamie and Whit’s experiences and feelings. Both of them have to realise that they might not have known or understood each other as well as they thought. Sometimes in the whirl of intense love we fail to talk about things that really matter or perhaps not every twenty year old is self-aware enough to communicate their feelings clearly…
This was a short and satisfying read with a happily-ever-after end. Perfect for readers who enjoy classic romance where characters go through an emotional journey to reach the happiness they deserve.

Author Bio
Barbara Wallace is the best selling author of over two dozen romance and cozy mystery novels. Her books can be found world-wide, including the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Australia.
A native New Englander, Barb lives in the suburbs with her husband of thirty-one years. Their only son is married and lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her hard at work at her other job, that of an unappreciated caretaker to two demanding rescue cats. For some reason they seem to think laps are for petting, not laptop computers.

I didn’t like that cover but I enjoy classic second chance romance. I’m already curious what happened when hero was in Europe. Great review!

I’m with you on this one, Yesha! No offence to the model on the cover, but I had a totally different mental image of Whit!

I agree, the cover is not one that would catch my eye. Nice review Toni. It sounds like a sweet read and one without a lot of angst, just honest feeling. You have been reading a lot of romance lately, good for you.

LOL! The cover has caused much controversy. To be honest – I was hoping for more of a Jude Law look. Thanks for a great review. I truly appreciate you all checking out the book.

A Jude Law look would have been just right- strong and vulnerable at the same time… LOL…Thank you for your book, Barbara! Looking forward to reading your next one.
